Fundamental Analysis

What Are Delisted Shares?

Delisted shares are the assigned shares of a company that were once being traded publicly on an exchange, such as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), but are no longer traded on that exchange. A delisting can occur for one of two reasons:

Voluntary Delisting: A public company can voluntarily delist from an exchange when it wants to go private, is combining with a different company, or is restructuring. The company may offer shareholders the option to participate in a buyback of their shares, sometimes at a premium, allowing them to sell their shares for a fair price and avoid holding shares that are now illiquid.

Involuntary Delisting: A public company may also be involuntarily delisted from an exchange for not meeting the level of compliance expected from the exchange, such as maintaining a minimum share price, capitalization, or when the public company fails to file its financial reports within a set timeframe.

The Benefits of Buying Delisted Stocks

Lower Buy-In price

Many delisted stocks are priced below the stock's market potential. There is huge upside and potential to realise significant gains whenever the company resumes or is relisted.

Portfolio diversification

Assuming you have done your due diligence, you may expose your portfolio to unique investments that are not traded on open exchanges with the purchase of delisted stocks.

Long-term investment

With time, experience, and a strategic investment, any of the delisted stocks can yield great results if or when market conditions change, or as a strategy of buybacks.

How to Buy and Sell Delisted Shares

Buying Of Delisted Shares

Investing in a delisted stock can be a great way for an investor to diversify their portfolio and gain exposure to an undervalued stock. However, buying a delisted stock is not simply done as a stock is not traded on the database of major exchanges like the NSE or BSE. That creates an element of risk and difficulty. Sharescart makes this process much easier, safer, and more efficient for investing in delisted options.

Sharescart gives you access to a vetted and definitive list of delisted stocks for you to invest in, without the need for concern of a scam, valuation, or extensive OTC procedures.

Sharecart provides a solution to these problems.

Using Sharescart, you will be able to sell your delisted shares safely, quickly, and in the price ranges you want—without the difficulty of navigating the OTC market on your own. This ensures that your investment is sold quickly and fairly.
