Incorporated in February 1999, International Gemmological Institute (India) Limited is a globally recognized leader in certifying and grading diamonds, gemstones, and jewellery. The company provides independent grading reports that assess the characteristics of stones based on internationally accepted standards, including details on color, cut, clarity, and carat weight. IGI also offers educational programs and degree courses for the gem and jewellery industry, along with a dedicated research department. With 31 laboratories across the globe, IGI grades natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, gemstones, and finished jewellery. Additionally, it operates 18 gemology schools, graduating thousands of students annually. As of September 30, 2024, IGI has a network of 20 laboratories and 9 schools under its Pre-Acquisition Group, employing 843 professionals, including 316 gemologists. The company’s operations span 31 branches in 10 countries, with key markets in Surat, Mumbai, Antwerp, New York, Bangkok, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. IGI is the second-largest independent certification provider globally for diamonds and jewellery, specializing in the fast-growing lab-grown diamond industry.
